Hello. We are Bryan and Laura Davies, the artists in the wonderful north project. We’re married, we make art together and we’re based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Our part in this groovy website is to make an exhibition inspired by the experience of one month on the road in the north of England. It will be a portrait of the north that reflects all the things that really excite us, launched from April 2008. In the mean time, if you’d like to know a bit more about us please follow the blog and here are some of our interests: Bryan likes… architecture, concrete, vibrant cities, sculpture, meeting people, Jimmy Saville, history, books, museums, coats and all things food orientated. Laura likes good art, design, interiors, textiles, films, clothes, being outdoors, organising things and tea and cakes.
Bryan and Laura travelled along motorways and country lanes, past angels and libraries, icons and undiscovered treasures on an unprecedented tour of the North of England in a Hymer touring van. Here you can see a record of their journey, an online sketch book full of videos, images and blog entries documenting their road trip. Each blog post they made on their journey has a location on the map, and they also used a GPS device to trace their route around the North of England which you can see on the map below.
